  • Albuquerque, NM (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2018 - Indonesia needs professionals in cybersecurity who have the expertise to deal with cybersecurity threats. Therefore, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Indonesia, created a national program called ‘Born to Protect’ to recruit young gladiators in cybersecurity, supported by EC-Council, RSA Security, and local colleges in Indonesia.

The audition process for the ‘Born to Protect’ program, held in 10 Indonesian cities, recognized 7,965 preliminary candidates from 10,000 entries. The semi-finalists (top 1,000, awarded a voucher for the C|SCU) faced a ‘capture the flag’ challenge, through a technical drill, narrowing down the participants to the final top 100.

These 100 candidates attended the Digital Camp for two weeks where they were trained by an official EC-Council Instructor, Belly Rachdianto, attaining the C|ND credential at the end of the program on 5 October 2018, after passing the examination.

The program was officially closed by the Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Mr. Rudiantara at Anantakupa Auditorium. Mr. Rudiantara says “Since last year, the Ministry of Communication and Information thought ‘who would handle cybersecurity attacks?’ We think young people want to fight, therefore they will be called gladiator. We seek and funded this program,”

According to the Minister of Communication and Information, Rudiantara says that “Born To Protect aims at preparing human resources to protect Indonesia from attacks on cyber networks. They are expected to become the forerunner of Indonesia’s human resources that will continue to protect our country either from the government, corporate, private, universities, institution, and organizations who have the potential to be attacked or hacked through the cyber network”
