"I feel that it is extremely important to bring awareness to this issue. Most people don't realize how just one incident of domestic violence can really impact a persons life or warp their view of the world. Whether they are a man, woman, teen or child." stated Dr. Maiysha Clairborne who is also a child witness survivor of domestic violence. "Exposure to domestic violence can potentially cause a child to spiral down the wrong path, becoming victims themselves, or even taking the role of the abuser in the future. It changes the way people look at life and love as adults or as young teens. It's up to us to educate people, promote peace and prevention in the community and among health professionals. It is time that we remove the mask on domestic violence; it is not ok in any way, shape or form."

Atlanta's elite are expected to be in attendance along with Mayor Kaseem Reed and sports figures from the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Dreams. The evening will also provide attendees to participate in a silent auction to benefit the cause. Winning bidders will walk away with luxurious items such as exclusive hotel stays, getaways trips, jewelry, art, electronics, and other unique products.

Dr. Clairborne serves as a board member of the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) which is a statewide non-profit organization that brings together member agencies, allied organizations and supportive individuals who are committed to ending domestic violence. Guided by the voices of survivors, they work to educate and create social change by addressing the root causes of domestic violence. GCADV leads advocacy efforts for responsive public policy and foster quality, comprehensive prevention and intervention services throughout the state.
