  • (1888PressRelease) August 20, 2011 - Provo, UT [World Humanitarian Day] - Timpanogos Hearing & Balance announced today that nominations are now open for its second annual Hearing for Christmas program to provide free hearing aids to underserved residents of Utah.

Following last year's heart warming experience, Doctor of Audiology Layne Garrett, Au.D. and his staff unanimously decided to repeat the giveaway. Through November anyone can nominate themselves or others as deserving of the free aids. The winning applicants will be notified of the early Christmas present from Timpanogos Hearing & Balance.

"There is so much need that we feel compelled to give back to the community that supports our business," said Layne Garrett, Au.D., founder of Timpanogos Hearing & Balance. "Hearing is so vital to quality of life and we know that each hearing device used impacts many people, especially families."

In addition to providing local support for those who cannot afford hearing assistance, Doctor Garrett will make his fourth trip to Ghana to assist the hearing impaired in rural Africa. Working in conjunction with non-profit America Helps, the doctor provides free hearing exams and fits aids to deaf children at a Ghanaian school for the hearing impaired. Patients in the United States can also donate their older hearing aids to help children in rural Africa. Watch video.

"If folks want to drop off aids they are not using, we will definitely put them to good use," Garrett said.
