  • (1888PressRelease) May 13, 2011 - The Mitchum Motorsports team always checks off the Virginia International Raceway off their seasonal race calendar, as this is their home circuit, and always have a huge following of fans, friends and family to cheer on the 2-car Chevrolet Camaro GS.R squad.

The #6 Lucas Oil/Sunoco/Makita Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink driver pairing of Jeff Bucknum and Robert Stout are equally excited. For GM driver Jeff Bucknum, it's going back to a circuit he's had success in giving Chevrolet their best finish to date since the relaunch of the iconic muscle car into professional competition. "I'm super excited to be coming back to the track where we not only debuted the Camaro in 2009 then co-driving with David Donohue, but also where we've had the most success to date in bringing home a second place podium finish just one season ago." Bucknum continues; "I have a lot of confidence going into this weekend that my teammate Robert Stout and I can produce a win this season for Camaro, and I can't think of a better place than the track where Camaro has so much history in such a short period of time, much less the teams' home track."

For Stout, vying for Rookie of the Year honors in the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series season, he is adjusting well to the new circuits, new team and teammate. On the season the team is just five points out of the Top-10 in the Team Points Championship, and has already amassed two Top-10 finishes which has Stout solidly in the Grand Sport class Rookie of the Year standings on the season, currently third in GS.

"I'm really looking forward to a great weekend at VIR. My co-driver, Jeff Bucknum, podiumed there last year in a Camaro and I think the track layout will bring out the Camaro's strong points again this year. VIR has shown great success for me over the past two years as I took a podium and fast lap at the 13-hour Charge of the Headlights Brigade in 2009 and also took a back-to-back win and second place at the World Challenge event there last year. This will be my first race weekend with P1 Groupe managing me and I'm looking forward to a great relationship with them through the future" states Stout.
