  • (1888PressRelease) December 02, 2015 - The multiple-entry tourist visa or METV allows for unlimited border crossings during the validity period and costs Bt5,000. However, to limit foreigners from essentially living in Thailand on a tourist visa, each entry on the METV is limited to 60 days.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is hoping the METV will promote Thailand as a destination for weekend vacations and see business people visit Thailand more often.

Thailand in November 2015 welcomed its 25th million visitor and has forecast 28.8 million international tourists for the whole year. Preliminary figures from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports showed 24.36 million visitors in the first 10 months of 2015, representing a 24.75 per cent year-on-year rise.

Kasikorn Research Centre, a subsidiary company of Kasikorn Bank which conducts tourism and business research mainly on Thailand's economy, estimates total tourist arrivals for 2015 will reach over 30 million.
