  • Bend, OR (1888PressRelease) May 19, 2015 - TEDxBendWomen announces its speakers and program for the May 30th day-long event taking place at the COCC Central Oregon Community College (COCC) Redmond Tech Center (http://www.cocc.edu/redmond/redmond-technology-education-center/).

The TEDxBendWomen 2015 program features Central Oregon women speakers sharing ideas in quick, powerful talks - 18 minutes or less, TED's signature format - as well as streamed video from the May 26-29 TEDWomen 2015 event in Monterey (https://conferences.ted.com/TEDWomen2015). As part of this year's theme, talks will center on building a better Central Oregon and world. "Our focus is to showcase to the world women in our community who are driving change locally and beyond, while helping women build their support networks," says Rane Johnson-Stempson, Co-Chair of the event. "We have assembled a diverse group who will speak to all attendees," continues Johnson-Stempson. This is a grass roots event focused on enabling women to turn their ideas into a reality and creating an environment in which women thrive. Organizers believe that women focus their time on their families, their jobs, their community outreach, and their outdoor activities and don't spend enough time on their own personal development and want TEDxBendWomen to be that avenue to connect, inspire and enable women across the region.

TEDxBendWomen 2015 speakers and performers include:

    Writer and therapist Molly Carroll
    Entrepreneur Sarah Poole
    Teen Photographer Lexy Potts
    Marketing Strategist/Activist Lisa Flynn
    Affordable Housing Leader Cyndy Cook
Local musicians Megan Ellsworth and Rylee Chiyo
Investing in Ideas Panelists: Jen Hoffman, Julie Harrelson, Dr. Katherine Neubauer, Pam Stevenson (Moderator Moe Carrick)

The full speaker list and schedule can be found here: http://www.tedxbendwomen.com

Speakers and panelists were selected from suggested local women representing every sector, with an emphasis on those who have compelling ideas and who are working on solving local and global challenges. This event brings voice to those women who are driving change locally, nationally, and internationally to the larger community. Audience engagement, panel Q & A, interactive art exhibits, and music/poetry promise a vibrant day for all attendees. Kerri Stewart of myWindow will emcee the day.

"We have scheduled and priced the event, and are offering free childcare, specifically to provide access to an inspiring day celebrating women from all walks of life," says Co-Chair Moe Carrick. "It promises to be a thought-provoking exchange of diverse ideas."

This year's conference, done in partnership with TEDxBend, follows two consecutive years of TEDxWomen's Salons featuring small group interaction and speakers/videos on issues facing women locally. The COCC Redmond Tech Center will come alive for the day's events via the auditorium style main stage, live screening rooms for volunteers and free ticket holders, an interactive art inspiration exhibit, featured art by more than 20 local artists, tours of the extensive innovation center, and locally donated food and beverages. This day could not be possible without our local Central Oregon Sponsors: Cascade Business News, Central Oregon Community College, BendBroadband, the Old Mill District, Life Flight Network, Backporch Coffee, Humm Kombucha, Straw Propeller, Pacific Super Food Snacks, Heirloom Floral Design, Hand-in-Hand Productions, Head Start, Else Kerkmann Photography, Veronica Bahns Photography & Design, Worthy Brewing, TEDxBend, Microsoft Research, and Moementum, Inc.
