  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2016 - Swiftly Tilting Theatre Project, Inc. challenges Catholic dogma by setting Sophocles' classic play Antigone in the modern-day countryside, currently in previews and opening July 9, 2016.

Ms. Kidwell's adaptation uses the burial restrictions of a heretic as a springboard for Sophocles' classic tragedy to unfurl. Antigone refuses to allow her brother to be buried without ceremony and defies the Catholic Church's edict decreed upon Polyneices.

Kristen Brody, Swiftly Tilting aluma and up-and-coming tv & film actress (Shadow of a Doubt, The Family Table) leads the charge as the play's titular character. Joining her is Pittsburgh native and Bowling Green University graduate, Brent Winzek as Creon, American Academy of Dramatic Arts graduate, Claire D'Angelo as Ismene, Northwestern University graduate, Carey Seward as Haemon, Swiftly Tilting Theatre Project Twelfth Night company members, Zac Pierce-Messick as Teiresias and Benjamin David Knight as Quinn, founding Swiftly Tilting Actor, Taylor Lynne as Eurydice & Siobhan, William and Mary graduate, Larissa Kruesi as Kaia, and experienced regional actress and singer Jessica Threet as Aine.

IRNE nominated actor and playwright, Danny Bryck coach the cast in a Southern Irish dialect. A new song called "Jeremiah," commissioned for the play, written by Ed Donnelly and arranged by Katy Munson adds to the mysterious and solemn atmosphere of the play.
