- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) August 25, 2011 - Trea Day Management & Publicity is a widely respected firm in the sports and entertainment world, known for elevating athletes and entertainers to next echelon of their careers. Georgia Tech alum Michael Johnson, a promising defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals, is on the cusp of a breakout season on the field, and has chosen the prestigious PR and Project Management firm to propel his rising star to the stratosphere. Named 2011 Female Publicist of the Year, Trea Day CEO and Senior Publicist Trea Davenport is thrilled to add Johnson to her clientele roster that has included breakouts ranging from Gucci Mane and Chrisette Michele to New England Patriots Line Backer Gary Guyton and TV One's Ultimate Merger heart throb, Ray Lavender. The partnership of Davenport and Johnson seems like a perfect match; both are known for their tenacity and strong work ethic.
Born in Selma, Alabama, Michael Johnson has proven to be quite the success story. The 6'7" gentle giant excelled in high school both athletically and academically, landing a scholarship to play at Georgia Tech. During his college years, Johnson dominated the competition leading his team in tackles and finishing third overall in sacks in his senior year. Johnson was voted as an All-American during his years at Tech, and was drafted by the Bengals in the 2009 draft. Overcoming countless obstacles and continuously proving that he's worthy, Johnson asserted himself as one of the best young defenders the NFL has to offer. Coach Marvin Lewis described Johnson by saying "he's [Johnson] one of the best rushers I've ever worked with". With the NFL lockout finally over and Johnson going into his third season with team, he is diligently working hard to improve his skills and become the best in the league.
Known for his selfless acts, Johnson has brought a new found respect to football. At just 24 years old, Michael Johnson has contributed to several charities, gives back to his communities across the county and created his own organization; the MJ93 Fund (http://www.mj93fund.org) devoted to enhancing the lives of the children of his hometown. Through his charity, working closely with Michael's biggest fan and supporter; his mother Mrs. Thomasene Johnson, Executive Director of MJ93 Fund and Trea Davenport were able to forge a bond, where they worked closely to execute the 2nd Annual Michael Johnson Youth Football and Cheer Camp for hundreds of kids in Selma. The 3rd annual camp is already slated for April 21, 2012.
Johnson is truly living his dream, many football analysts feel that he is one to watch in the 2011 season. Representation by Trea Day Sports PR will provide him with greater opportunities to gain exposure on a national scale. "I am excited to represent Mr. Johnson on and off the field," said Trea Davenport. "He is such a dynamic individual, a phenomenal football player, and he has a heart of gold."
Davenport is continuously proving herself to be "not just another player in the game." This very talented publicist seems to have her hand in everything, from the music industry to the sports world, while still maintaining an immaculate reputation. This Michigan native has made a name for herself nationally before finally choosing to settle down in Atlanta.
With the addition of Michael Johnson to her team, Trea Davenport is adding another quality member to her already excellent roster. Joining fellow Georgia Tech alum Gary Guyton, Michael Johnson is placing his career in the hands of a true PR maven.
