  • Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) June 10, 2011 - Award-winning KTGY Group, Inc., Architecture and Planning, is pleased to announce that KTGY's Principal Manny Gonzalez, AIA, LEED AP and CAASH has been invited to participate in Building Industry Association (BIA) of Southern California 50+ Housing Council program, "'ABC' Demonstration Home - A Preview Before PCBC Debut," on Thursday, June 16, 2011. The new ABC Home, which was designed by Gonzalez, is an "Affordable, Buildable, Certified" Green home designed for net-zero energy use that incorporates Universal Design to accommodate people of all ages and capabilities. The first of three demonstration homes planned by Southern California Edison Company, the ABC home will be built in fall 2011.

    Nick Slevin, publisher of 50+ BUILDER and Green Home Builder magazines, will moderate a panel presentation. Speakers will include KTGY's Manny Gonzalez; Chuck Goodman of iPda (integrated Process design associates); and John Morton of Southern California Edison Company. Attendees will learn about how a nearly net-zero home can be built on any suitable lot or subdivision and what green products are used inside and out of this novel one-story 1,695-square-foot plan. Gonzalez will also discuss which universal design features make this home livable for seniors and an easy living home for all; and what construction techniques can be used to make the home affordable and sustainable.

    Gonzalez is the senior partner in KTGY's Santa Monica office and president of KTGY Group, Colorado. He is responsible for the design, land planning, and production of developments throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado as well as active adult and affordable multi-family communities nationwide. In his more than 25 years of practice in residential development, Gonzalez has won numerous awards for his outstanding designs including Gold Nugget, Best in American Living, Pillars of Industry, MAME and Elan. In 2010, Gonzalez won his fifth NAHB 50+ Housing Gold Award, which was for Parkview Living Senior Community in Echo Park, Calif., and was named "Person of the Year" in 2009 by the 50+ Housing Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, in recognition of Manny's commitment, personal compassion, and professional contributions as a national leader in 50+ housing design and innovation. Gonzalez has served as Chair of the NAHB 50+ Symposium and Education Committee, and two terms as President of the Seniors Housing Council for Southern California. He is currently on the Editorial Advisory Board of 50+ Builder and BUILDERNews magazines, and has written and contributed to scores of articles on residential design. An 8th generation native of Los Angeles, Manny is also dedicated to community service and youth sports.
