Baltimore, MD (1888PressRelease) May 18, 2011 - The Ahmads from Baltimore, Maryland, wished to convert an empty, unused space under their stairs into a fully customized wine cellar. The room measured almost exactly 79 ½" by 46 ½" (25.672 square feet). Coastal Custom Wine Cellar's senior design consultant made the most out of the small room by using a mix of semi-custom and custom mahogany wooden wine racks that maximized every available space. A WhisperKOOL XLT series unit was used for the wine cooling system. In the end, there was enough room to store 410 wine bottles and room for the Ahmads to walk around inside and enjoy the cellar.

On one particular side of the room, a custom built wine rack was fabricated to fit into a space that was only 6 inches deep. This wine rack holds the wine bottles laterally with the labels conveniently facing the viewer. Coastal made the wooden wine racks out of Malaysian mahogany which is perfect for the elevated humidity levels found in customized wine cellars because it naturally resists abrasion and warping.

Like most other wine enthusiasts, the Ahmads are also avid cigar collectors so a custom cigar humidor was built into one of the wine racks that was about 13 inches deep. Spanish Cedar was used to line the humidor's interior to give the stored cigars it's distinctive fragrance.

Baltimore, Maryland lies within the humid subtropical Cfa climate zone (Köppen climate classification system), which is typified by hot, humid summers and rather cool winters.
