Top Quote The Thai Cabinet has approved a tax incentive measure, advises BSA Law, that will allow spending made on domestic tourism in December 2016 to be used as a personal tax deduction. End Quote
  • (1888PressRelease) December 09, 2016 - The incentive applies from 1 to 31 December 2016 and allows for up to Bt15,000 spent on domestic tourism during the period to be deducted from a person's taxable income.

The tax incentive measure is aimed at spurring spending on domestic travel around Thailand, and the Cabinet's approval comes in light of government assistance to other sectors and the year-end high season for tourism.

"Together with earlier approved measures for spending on shopping and restaurants, it means that Thais will be able to potentially enjoy up to Bt30,000 in tax deductions for their spending on domestic tourism", noted BSA Law spokesman Apisakdi Kongkangwanchoke.

These are the latest in a series of tax incentive measures that have come from the government. Similar tax deduction schemes were held during the traditional Thai New Year of Songkran in mid April 2016 for spending on dining and travelling inside the country, and the 2015-2016 New Year period for goods and services purchased during the holiday.
