  • (1888PressRelease) September 22, 2010 - Cincinnati, Ohio - Internationally renowned architect Gerard "Guy" F.X. Geier, FAIA, FIIDA, LEED, senior partner at FXFOWLE Architects, will deliver a presentation at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) on Wednesday, October 6. Sponsored by BHDP Architecture, Geier will share the case study of an innovative new integrated design process with the audience in the Jarson-Kaplan Theater of the Aronoff Center for the Arts beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Geier, an architect and interior designer with more than 30 years of experience in the design and management of corporate and institutional projects, leads the FXFOWLE Interiors practice. A strong proponent of the value design plays in creating a healthy and productive workplace, he focuses on developing spaces that reflect a client's mission and current program, while anticipating future needs. Current projects include the conversion of a landmarked Armory in New York City into a 55,000 square foot office for Disney, targeted for LEED Silver.

He is also leading the design team of The Center for Integrated Design Technology Learning at SUNY Purchase College, a new facility that will house the Conservatory of Theater, Art, and Film. Before joining FXFOWLE, Geier served as CEO of Vitra, principal of NBBJ, and president and chief marketing officer of Hillier. He received both his Bachelor of Science in Architecture and his Masters of Architecture from the University of Virginia.

Geier will present the case study of the integrated design process behind the recently completed SAP Americas' headquarters expansion in Newtown Square, Pa. Certified LEED Platinum by the USGBC, the project incorporates numerous energy-reducing strategies and includes a calibrated Building Management System that monitors performance. The project is a prime example of how a collaborative design process can yield an interactive, environmentally-sensitive workplace.
