  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) January 25, 2012 - The 101st Airborne Division Association welcomes all present and former members of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to the 21st annual winter "Snowbird" reunion February 16-18, 2012. Among those in attendance will be veterans who wore the 101st Screaming Eagle patch in World War II, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and Iraq, including current active duty troops recently returned from the Middle East and their family and friends, to include our treasured friends from Holland.

    The reunion will be at the newly renovated Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in the heart of the Tampa Westshore business district two miles from Tampa International Airport, just off 1-275 and minutes from the nearest beach. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle to the airport and the Westshore and International Malls. More than 100 restaurants are within the free shuttle radius. Free parking and free wireless Internet in the lobby and public areas also will be provided attendees. Register by January 24th for a guaranteed reunion room rate.

    The large Hospitality Room, Association Store, and Banquet Room are centrally located in the main hotel building. Tours to Tampa area events will be available.

    The traditional Snowbird golf scramble will be held at 9 AM at the Cheval Golf and Country Club, Tampa, Florida on Thursday, February 16th. Cheval is a private, members' only facility that is just now completing a brand new clubhouse to include dining, bars, pro shop, lockers and banquet rooms. Cheval's championship course consistently rates among the very best in Tampa Bay. The course restaurant will be open to registrants for both breakfast and lunch on the day of the outing.

    Organized in Southern Germany in 1945 by World War II veterans, the 8,500-member Association holds its annual summer reunion at a selected metropolitan site.
