  • Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2016 - On Saturday, August 27th, 2016, Zuni Elder Clifford Mahooty will be coming to Harumi Yoga +. During this event, he will be presenting teachings of the ancient Zuni. This includes an oral history of the Zuni and an introduction to their religion, rituals, kachinas, and spiritual practices, as well as how they relate to star people and spiritual beings. He will draw a comparison between the ancient oral teachings of the Zuni people and modern scientific theories, discoveries, and cosmic concepts.

    Zuni Elder Clifford Mahooty is a member of the Zuni Pueblo Indian Tribe of New Mexico as well as a member of the tribe's Kachina Society. This society guards centuries of knowledge of contact between the Zunis and star beings. He is also active in the Zuni orders of the Galaxy Medicine Society and the Sun Clan Leadership. Additionally, he is a wisdom keeper of the Zuni history.

    Clifford Mahooty worked as a civil/environmental engineer for many years. He worked on projects with Shell Oil Company, then later worked as a tribal engineer with the Zuni Indian reservation. Later, he was commissioned as a public health officer with the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). There he worked with potable water and wastewater, as well as EPA enforcement in environmental compliance. He also had a federal government position with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) for 25 years.

    Now retired, Clifford Mahooty shares the lost history and wisdom of his ancestors from the ancient Zuni tribe. "Throughout my professional life time and working career I have always maintained a close relationship to my spiritual tribal roots as a member of various orders with in tribe," stated Mahooty.
