  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 04, 2011 - When you think of Holland, you may have visions of bicycle traffic jams, smell the fragrance of tulips, and sense the taste of beer and cheese on your tongue. Ah, but that is not all this gentle country is known for! If you listen carefully, you will hear the sounds of extremely talented, burgeoning musical artists filling the air.

San Francisco-based ZIP RECORDS is proud to present three of the best new talents from the Netherlands in a showcase concert in New York City on Friday, November 4th at the new Cutting Room.

Alt-rock band KENSINGTON is shooting its way up the consciousness of Dutch audiences. Following up on their hit single "Youth," KENSINGTON upped that success with the 2011 single release of "Let Go" and their debut album "Borders," just released in the US. Dutch magazine OOR commented: "KENSINGTON (is) one of the best bands of the Netherlands." Consistently performing to sold out crowds in Holland, Jakarta, Indonesia and Serbia, KENSINGTON is now prepared to invade the U.S. http://youtu.be/CHLp-4ABR90

Amsterdam's BIRGIT craves the spotlight. A singer, actress and TV personality, BIRGIT does it all with an air of style and fun. BIRGIT's songs reflect her unique attributes: full throttle rock & roll, tingling ballads and pop songs. Provocative, unique, powerful, lovely and exotic are all words used to describe her music. An acclaimed actress, BIRGIT has appeared in numerous movies such as the leading roles in the 2004 blockbuster "Floris" and the 2005 Dutch TV series "Lieve Lust;" her voice was featured in the Dutch voice-dubbing of the films "Ice Age" and "Sponge Bob." Having appeared in two Dutch movies this year, her next flick will be in English. After a three month run in David Mamet's "Sexual Perversity" in 2007, BIRGIT took the lead in the off Broadway musical "Last 5 Years." An "international stew" of Surinamese, Antilian and Chinese descent, BIRGIT was nominated for Best Album and Best Singer for her debut album on Virgin Records. http://youtu.be/qSiuM6vu_1k

NICOLE BUS won the 2010 Grand Prize in Holland's annual Songwriter's Awards, voted Best New Talent by the Dutch music industry. Having first made a name for herself in the Netherlands with her 2009 debut album singing Gospel songs, the 22 year old singer/songwriter/guitarist has moved into the rock/pop genre on her new CD, dropping in the US in early 2012. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGL2E3gT36o&NR=1
