  • New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) September 22, 2011 - Author Kima Richard has been invited to read her debut book Possibilities to New Orleans area Girl Scouts Troop. Kima created the characters History and Heritage Hanks, a New Orleans brother and sister duo. We follow them as they explore life's career opportunities. The art work produced by local muralist Joe Parker has brought this duo and the streets of New Orleans to life with his acrylic paints and his keen hand. "He has captured our spirits in his paintings with the colorful shotguns and the magnificent magnolia trees," said author Kima Richard, "and the characters are just as I envisioned them." Ms. Richard is now in final edit of her second title in the series, When I Look in the Mirror, featuring History and Heritage and a whole host of other characters.

After viewing a copy of Possibilities, the Girl Scout Troop invited Ms. Richard to read and discuss her book at the Afro-American Book Stop on September 24, 2011 at 2pm. 7056 Read Blvd., New Orleans 70127. In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through a myriad of enriching experiences, such as extraordinary field trips, sports skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardships, girls grow courageous and strong. Girl Scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.
