  • (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2011 - "Signature 2011", which represents an opportunity for students of Fashion Styling and Image Design (FSID) at Pearl Academy of Fashion to showcase their work, is also a platform for them to make their presence felt in the burgeoning industry. Held at DLF Emporio Mall, Vasant Kunj, the event was officiated by style icon and fashion designer Mr. Nitin Bal Chauhan, who himself exhibits a distinct and signature style identity through his body of work.

"Signature 2011" marked the official 'debut' of the 18 pioneering FSID students in the styling and design industry. After a series of internal and external juries, which included Fashion stylist Gautam Kalra, fashion co-ordinator and choreographer Liza Verma and fashion stylist Geeta Josie Khanna of Hirumchi styling company, three students were awarded for their work. The awards were for: Best commercially styled project, Out of the box project and Special jury award.

Mr. A.K.G. Nair, Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion said "Style & image are two important domains that create the persona of celebrities, actors and people in the public eye. Our students have shown their talent and creativity in the thought process by representing these two aspects in their works. It is remarkable how they have worked towards honing multi-layered competence for professional practice, which is necessary for distinction in the highly competitive industry."

The final works of the class of 2008 were exhibited at the event in a static display and introduced the students to the styling and fashion industry. The students exhibited their skills in fashion, photography, makeup and hairstyle, visual and space styling, print and electronic media styling etc. The three year Higher diploma course (FSID) from the Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi offers a platform for aspiring stylists.

Ms. Nien Siao, HOD, Fashion Design said "As the society is moving into overlapping niches segments, need of managing own image and making a statement can be clearly heard. It may be in clothing or food or other areas of lifestyle. This course is a landmark that caters to need for trained professionals in this area of styling."

Ms. Sarita Karandikar, Course Leader, FSID said "Impactful images to convert intangibles into tangible outcomes seem to have become the need of the hour. The stylists from this course should be able to provide solutions to give a visual impact to every expression from celebration to self esteem and hopefully convert aspirations to achievements."

FSID is aimed at building the context of the profession and begins to introduce and synthesize different streams of potential practice as well as the larger understanding of media and contemporary nuances of styling and image. Students' exposure to the industry during internship as well as inputs from within the classroom have prepared them to excel in the fields of styling in fashion, publications, commercial styling, retail brands, window displays and personalized styling services.
