  • (1888PressRelease) September 06, 2013 - With the release of The Electro Never Dies Mix Volume 5 "Rage Until The Break Of Dawn!!" DJ Schxzo's® produced hip hop instrumentals and electronic "EDM" music mixes have reached a milestone they are now featured in over 50 projects including rap, hip-hop and videos including the new Kid Gere remix to Big Sean's hit single "Beware".

Like many teenagers in NJ hoping to get into the music business they have large shoes to fill, shoes worn by names like Frank Sinatra, Jon Bon-Jovi, Ice-T, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah and of course if you're also from Freehold it's Bruce Springsteen. The odds of success are against them and yet many still try to become musicians, singers, writers and rappers despite those odds. There are a few exceptions and with a little luck, some raw talent and a "never take no" attitude success can happen.

We caught up with a young 18 year old entertainment entrepreneur who goes by the name DJ Schxzo® and like many before him he's played instruments, formed bands, and tried soloing with little commercial success. In today's' world of instant everything it's harder than ever to keep focused on one thing because the likes, dislikes, comments are coming at light speed with a simple tweet or reply. A few ill-intentioned negative comments dissuade many from their goals. We asked Schxzo to tell us about why he thinks he's where he is, "It's hard, really hard actually to get noticed for anything you do. There are thousands of people like me out there trying to get noticed every day, and believe me it's not easy putting yourself out there above everyone else. I actually watched a documentary not too long ago called HIS WAY about Jerry Weintraub, and he tells this story of selling luggage and vacations in Alaska. That changed the way I now think about my music career."

Schxzo went on to say, "I knew all the music I made was good, my fans gave it outstanding reviews and show they fully support me but it didn't spread well enough. I did basically a Jerry Weintraub; I jumped into producing music on my laptop last year rather than continuing to perform. I'm not a Mac Miller, I'm not one of those YouTube internet phenomenon's, so basically in order to get noticed I reached out to people I've met online to collaborate and today I have over 50 production credits between rap, hip-hop and EDM with hundreds of thousands of views. In the grand scheme of things it's not really a lot, but it's a small start. It's not enough to where I can quit my job yet or drop out of college to pursue my music full time. I'll see where this goes and hopefully apply what I'm learning in marketing to launch my career into a new level."

"HIS WAY" is a feature-length documentary directed by Douglas McGrath, produced by Graydon Carter, Alan Polsky and Gabe Polsky, and executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and Audrey Rosenberg, chronicling the five-decade career of the trailblazing Hollywood entrepreneur Jerry Weintraub.
