  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) March 29, 2012 - The NC Triangle Chapter of WTS International will host their annual scholarship and award gala on April 25 at Raleigh's Cardinal Club. The theme of the evening - "A Night of New Horizons" - has been inspired by featured speaker Astronaut Story Musgrave. Mr. Musgrave is an engaging modern-day renaissance man, and will share his remarkable story at the gala. In addition, the emcee will be WRAL reporter and anchor Renee Chou.

    WTS-NC Triangle Chapter's annual gala raises funds for college scholarships and outreach programs for middle and high school students. The aim of these scholarships and outreach programs is to promote young women to enter into Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) secondary education and careers.

    Attendees include small business owners, as well as employees and decision makers for some of the largest engineering firms in the Triangle. Sponsors for the event include AECOM and Martin/Alexiou/Bryson, PC.

    About Story Musgrave
    Story Musgrave was an NASA astronaut for over 30 years and flew on six spaceflights. He performed the first shuttle spacewalk on Challenger's first flight, was a pilot on an astronomy mission, conducted two classified DOD missions, was the lead spacewalker on the Hubble Telescope repair mission, and on his last flight he operated an electronic chip manufacturing satellite on Columbia.
