  • Ann Arbor, MI (1888PressRelease) April 03, 2018 - Workit Health announced today that it has earned Behavioral Health Care Certification from The Joint Commission. The certification recognizes Workit Health’s revolutionary evidence-based online addiction treatment program and its proprietary addiction recovery technology. This accreditation further demonstrates to both the public and Workit Health care partners (the ranks of which include Blue Care Network and Priority Health), that Workit Health seeks to maintain the highest quality of care while offering an innovative and exciting new solution to addiction treatment.

On December 14th and 15th, Workit Health’s Ann Arbor facility underwent The Joint Commission’s rigorous onsite review to assess its compliance with certification standards. During the review, Joint Commission experts evaluated several areas, including communication, information technology integration, patient and family engagement, service integration, and quality improvement activities that span the continuum of care.
Workit Health Co-founder and Co-CEO Robin McIntosh commented, “From day one of Workit Health we've put the safety and success of our patients front and center. This certification demonstrates our continued commitment to quality and safety consistent with The Joint Commission's national, consensus-based standards of care. We're honored to hold this mark of distinction, and look forward to better meeting the needs of people we serve." Co-founder and Co-CEO Lisa McLaughlin added that, “The Joint Commission Certification allows us to establish ourselves as a comprehensive alternative to brick-and-mortar addiction interventions.” Workit Health CMO, Dr. Melody Glenn, MD, said, “Workit’s accessible, harm reduction approach to addiction treatment is designed to offer the best patient experience possible, and The Joint Commission’s rigorous standards align perfectly with our patient-centered approach.”

The Joint Commission’s Behavioral Health Care Accreditation expanded to organizations providing mental health and addiction services in 1972. Joint Commission accreditation requirements address performance in specific areas, ensure that care, treatment, and services are safe and effective. A trauma-informed, recovery/resilience-oriented philosophy and approach to care, treatment and services is embedded in the requirements. Accreditation from The Joint Commission is recognized by state regulatory agencies in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in over 200 forms of legislation.
