Winning the Battles in Your Mind Hosts 5k Walk/Run to Benefit Children with Sickle Cell Anemia

  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) September 05, 2014 - Winning the Battles In Your Mind, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2008, is hosting their third 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Wade Walker Park (5585 Rockbridge Rd, Stone Mountain, GA 30088). Partnered with the Big Peach Running Company, the 5k Run/Walk will benefit Atlanta children who have been diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia.

    Registration for the race will start at 7:00 a.m. and the race will begin at 8:00 a.m., rain or shine. The tax deductible registration fee is $25 for all participants. Groups of five or more can register for $10 per person. All race participants and guests will be welcomed to breakfast upon their arrival. Race participants will also receive a free race shirt. After the race, participants and guests will enjoy food trucks and support various vendors.

    On the heels of a successful black tie gala, Winning the Battles in Your Mind, Inc. decided to extend their efforts to raise $50,000 for children battling Sickle Cell Anemia through 2015. The black tie gala, "Saving the Future One Tie at a Time," was the second annual event to launch and raise over two thousand dollars at the Cobb Galleria in June 2014.

    "My objective is to put a spotlight on the types of sickle cell that largely affect children," said Aretha Cleveland, Founder of Winning the Battles In Your Mind, Inc. "More importantly, I want to bring attention to issues around survivorship and ways we can help reach a financial goal for research and family support.
