  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) October 09, 2013 - Window Interiors, an industry-leading window treatment solutions company, is assisting the renovation of the Manhattan Casino - located on 22nd Street in Midtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

The project will convert the historic landmark into the world-famous Sylvia's soul food restaurant, originally located in Harlem.

With construction underway on the two-story building, Window Interiors will be installing Norman's Sussex Wood Shutters on the second floor and WI Shade Roller Shades on the first floor.

"We went with Norman's Shutters to cover the 13 windows and bar area of the new Sylvia's," said Maggie McKenzie, Gulf Coast Project Manager at Window Interiors. "These shutters come in 32 stains allowing us to find the exact stain to match the massive amount of woodwork on the second floor. Our roller shades on the first floor will not only be efficient in their main purpose of providing the correct amount of shade, they will also compliment the beauty of this historic location and the reputation of Sylvia's as the 'Queen of Soul Food'."

The Manhattan Casino, built in 1925, hosted jazz greats such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Count Basie. After the casino closed in 1966 it was left empty until its original restoration in 2005. It couldn't be denied that the renowned Sylvia's was a perfect fit for the historic building.

Sylvia's Restaurant Manhattan Casino is expected to open this month.
