  • (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2014 - This product will enable wind energy developers and stakeholders to carry out realistic assessment of the Annual Energy Output from a given wind turbine or windfarm."Our product, I think, will prove to be more accurate and more user friendly than other products in the market," said Jami Hossain, Chief Mentor and co-founder of WinDForce.

The product was launched by K S Popli, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA, www.ireda.gov.in) who was the chief guest at the Seminar. The Seminar, 'India Wind Energy 2014: Poised for a Quantum Leap' was organized by the Association of Business Chambers of Commerce and Industry(ABCCI, www.abcci.org) in association with Windforce. The participants deliberated on crucial issues related to financing, grid Integration and state level concerns in Indian wind energy sector.

According to WinDForce, other such products in the market are a bit archaic and cumbersome to use. In fact it is required to undergo costly training programs to use these other packages. One of the software packages, WaSP, developed by RISO National Laboratories, Denmark in the early nineties, was mainly meant for academic and scientific purposes and not for large-scale industrial use around the world. Many industry players were seen congratulating Jami Hossain for the indigenous development of this product application in India.

"We carried out a large number of trial runs of the product and have compared our results with that of other packages and we find that in many cases we are closer to actual results obtained in the field,"said Prosenjit, one of the analysts in this project. According to him, the product is also suitable for those who wish to examine variability in wind generation for the purposes of scheduling and forecasting and one of the outputs is power output in 15 minute slots at monthly and annual level.

The Seminar, 'India Wind Energy 2014: Poised for a Quantum Leap' was attended by prominent personalities of the wind industry. K.S Popli, Chairman and Managing Director, IREDA commented on the industry trends whereas V. Subramaniyam, former secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE, www.mnre.gov.in) was optimistic about the impact of accelerated depreciation provision announced by the Government recently. On the other hand, Jami Hossain, Chair, Technical Committee, World Wind Energy Association and Chief Mentor, Windforce Management, brought out key issues faced by the wind sector exhaustively to the ensemble.
