  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) March 16, 2013 - William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that Justin G. Roy, vice president for communications and marketing, has been named to serve on the 2013 Community Health Assessment (CHA) Steering Committee for Wake County, which identifies and evaluates factors affecting overall public health in Wake County through a comprehensive state-developed process. Conducted every four years, the CHA evaluates specific areas including behavioral and social health, economic health, environmental health, lifelong learning, physical health, and safety.

Designed in part to provide a real-life snapshot of the needs and resources of Wake County, the CHA will compile individual perspectives from community members, organizations, businesses, municipalities and other Wake County stakeholders. Data collected will come from a range of platforms, including citizen surveys, focus groups and primary data collection, and be transferred into a strategic plan that generates an overall direction for the county, hospitals and community partners to pursue.

As a member of the 2013 Community Health Assessment Steering Committee, Roy will be responsible for providing feedback on the proposed process and potential questions to be asked by participating stakeholders; outlining resources and individuals to partake in the surveys and focus groups; representing a positive and encouraging voice in an effort to further the marketing efforts being conducted among various organizations; analyzing and providing feedback on the works groups and final reporting; and presenting the final report alongside staff members to the Human Services and Environmental Services Board and the Wake County Board of Commissioners.

    QUOTES:
"Year after year, Wake County is recognized across the country as one of the greatest places to live in the United States, and that is due in part to the community's ongoing commitment to improvement overall," said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. "We are honored to have Justin serve on the 2013 Community Health Assessment Steering Committee as he lends his time and insights to evaluating and improving the overall health of Wake County and its residents."

"The only way to keep Wake County moving forward is to assess the direction we are headed," said Roy. "The CHA is one of those critical components to ensuring that the needs of all of our citizens are being monitored. I am proud to be selected to join the 2013 CHA Steering Committee, and I look forward to serving alongside other members as we address the state of public health and grow the future of this great community."
