William Peace University Names Sarah Heenan '08 As Director of Student Activities

Heenan, a 2008 alumna, has been named director of student activities. In her position, Heenan will be responsible for overseeing the student involvement component of William Peace University as well as providing leadership in developing a cohesive student experience through campus activities, traditional campus wide events and downtown Raleigh-related programming. Additionally, she will advise the university's campus activities board, maintain the student services events website and develop a comprehensive First-Year Experience program.

    Previously, Heenan served as state authorization compliance assistant for Appalachian State University's Office of Academic Affairs and Legal Counsel, as well as the graduate customer service assistant and textbook rush-floor manager for the university's bookstore. Prior to that, she served as the bookstore manager for William Peace University. Heenan received a Bachelor of Arts in history followed by a Master of Arts in higher education administration from Appalachian State.

    A native of Herndon, Va., Heenan is actively involved in the local community and serves as a board member for the North Carolina College and Personnel Association (NCCPA). NCCPA operates as the state's division of the American College Personnel Association, which is committed to the student affairs profession and the higher education community in providing outreach, advocacy, research, and professional development to foster college student learning.
