  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) February 14, 2014 - Wild Florida has recently introduced two sloths to their 13-acre wildlife park. The sloths will be joining a host of unique and exotic animals, including a wallaby, zebras, watusi, deer, and emu.

Sloths are medium-sized mammals belonging to the families Megalonychidae (two-toed sloth) and Bradypodidae (three-toed sloth), classified into six species. The two that will be calling Wild Florida home are both two-toed sloths. These beautiful animals are tree-dwelling residents from the jungles of Central and South America, and are known for being slow-moving, hence the name "sloths."

Beyond the number of toes, two-toed and three-toed sloths have a few other differences. Two-toed sloths lack tails and have larger eyes and shorter necks than their three-toed relatives. They also move between trees more frequently in search of fresh leaves.

So far, the sloths are assimilating nicely to their new environment and loving their time at Wild Florida. A number of tour packages are available for groups who wish to see the sloths as well as the other animals at the park, including the monster alligators.
