  • (1888PressRelease) July 21, 2017 - Madison, New Jersey - Wendi L. Dumbroff, Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC, was recently interviewed for the Family and Sexual Counseling segment on Health Professional Radio. During her interview with Host, Neal Howard, Dumbroff offered insights on best practices in mindfulness, couple and sex therapy.

Dumbroff discussed how sexual issues form a large part of couples therapy. The most common issue she sees is discrepant desire where one person may want sex more than the other. She states, “Life gets busy and couples forget how to play with each other and be with each other.” She continues, “Sex can start with willingness and then desire comes after. Arrange time for each other whether having sex or planning to have sex without putting any pressure of expectation - whatever a couple chooses to engage in does not have to end in fireworks.”

Dumbroff, an advocate and practitioner of meditation and mindfulness brings these tools into her practice. As she explains, “Mindfulness helps people create a pause. It allows one to step back and say, ‘what are my thoughts and what are my feelings’ - it creates room for participants to make different choices.”
