  • Milwaukee-Waukesha, WI (1888PressRelease) May 22, 2015 - The MECA Foundation announces that local WAMI award winning country singer, Nora Collins, will be performing at the2015 MECA Vest a K-9 Fest. This will be the fourth year the foundation has hosted the event.

    Collins will be returning a second time to blow the crowd away once again with her upbeat performances and to show her support to The MECA Foundation.

    Nora Collins was born in Brookfield, WI. Since the age of 14 she has paved her way to become one of Wisconsin's fastest rising country artists. Collins has a number of wins and nominations. In 2014 she was named "Singer/Songwriter of the year" at the 34th Annual WAMI Awards.

    With 3 albums under her belt and a number of opening performances for some of country's hottest stars, Collins is on her way to the big leagues. The MECA Foundation is proud to have her unique vocal talent and down-home country spirit at the event.

    "Police dogs unselfishly serve and protect us. They deserve to be protected. Let's show our appreciation and help them stay safe in the line of duty," says Nora Collins. Collins' positive energy on stage will be sure to create a happy environment at the event.

    MECA Vest a K-9 Fest had around 1500 attendants last year and is expecting an even bigger crowd this July. There will be exclusive appearances by Milwaukee Brewer Brandon Kintzler and teammates, along with Green Bay Packer Player Jared Abbrederis. Event goers can also expect to see Police K-9 demonstrations. It will be a fun filled day of entertainment, food and fun!

    The MECA Foundation, founded by Dr. Marla Lichtenberger, DVM, DACVECC is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting every police dog in the state of Wisconsin with bullet resistant and stab proof vests. In addition, the MECA Foundation also assists Wisconsin police K-9 Units purchase police dogs by donating grants to Wisconsin k-9 Units.
