  • (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2012 - Quintessentially British Entertainment!

Combining outstanding live entertainment, wine, cheese and a stunning venue is an enticing invitation to anyone, but for the many international journalists in London for The Games, it was a not to miss occasion. This was an event - showcasing the Best of British that was eagerly anticipated by the media and one that Viva Live Music (the Hertfordshire Based live entertainment company) was delighted to be part of.

Viva Live Music joined forces with the British Cheese Board; English Wine Association and the Montague hotel in Bloomsbury to create a Quintessentially British evening of Cheese and Wine Tasting, accompanied by musical excerpts between tastings. The evening took place in the beautiful 'Secret Garden' in the Montague Hotel which is in Bloomsbury.

The programme of music included Elizabethan Lute songs performed by musicians in Elizabethan costumes; traditional British Folk music; Songs from Ivor Novello and Noel Coward and original music comedy songs. This music, which is more niche than that performed at the closing ceremony, was very well received by journalists and created a lot of interest in less mainstream music that Britain is able to offer, as well as our rich musical heritage.

The entertainment from the evening is being covered by a number of media centres: a Chinese TV company loved the Folk Music and recorded some music as well as interviewed the musicians. This is being featured on Chinese TV. The Mexican Radio company particularly enjoyed the Elizabethan music and a programme about this - featuring recordings of the music and costumes - has been broadcast in Mexico. Other media coverage has included lifestyle articles in magazines and blogs.
Viva Live Music's music was accompanied by greetings cards with information on the music, with gifts of lavender bags; Earl Grey teabags and after dinner mints, to illustrate everything British.

Viva Live Music was delighted to be part of this celebration of Britain. Managing Director Susan Heaton Wright said "We are proud of our British Heritage in Music and Entertainment. As the world's media were in London for the Olympics, it was a perfect time to show the world the high quality of British entertainment available. The response we had from the journalists was immense and we are being featured in a number of radio and television programmes as well as life style articles. This has come at the perfect time for us, as we are now starting to trade overseas. The interest in entertainment gives me a lot of confidence in what we are offering to overseas markets".

Viva Live Music is looking forward to performing these styles of music - and more overseas. Given the interest in British music at this event, there is a market overseas for this!
