  • (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2011 - FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn.- Connecting with thousands-or even millions-of new global music fans just got easier, as unsigned and previously unknown musician Daria Musk proved this past weekend. Musk's second live concert on new social network Google+ was simulcast online in video and audio formats to a worldwide audience … all 7.5 hours of it. The performance blew away her own previous record of a 6.5-hour Google+ "Hangout" concert set only one week prior. It also established the means by which musicians can maintain the intimate and limited 10-person "Hangout" experience while simultaneously reaching a wide viewership beyond the video chat room. In a span of less than two weeks, Musk transformed her global musical dream into reality using her voice and Google+ technology.

Approximately 9,000 fans from 100 countries watched the second marathon performance, which inspired fans to coin the phrase, "Darlirious" to describe her seemingly inexhaustible energy and passion. Interacting with "front row" fans in between songs, Daria expressed gratitude for their enthusiasm, delight in learning where they were from and poignant concern for fans in Norway for whom she sang her ballad, "Shatter." A hospital in Portugal live-streamed the concert onto screens in the ER to cheer patients, doctors and nurses. Indienation.FM, an independent radio station based in Utah, live-broadcast the entire 7.5-hour concert, as did a station in Austin, Texas. European and Asian fans watched and listened until dawn, sending concert photos of their laptops as Daria sang "Foreign Cities" against views of Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Malaysia, China, India and morning in Australia where two little girls literally danced in the street to "You Move Me." A scientist-fan at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland expressed his delight that Daria's song, "A Brief History," uses the Big Bang as a metaphor for love and fans in South America and the U.S. watched Saturday turn into Sunday before the concert concluded.

A fan-created interactive map named after a spontaneous, concert-inspired meme, enabled fans to tag their locations at www.whatcityisyourbedin.com. The concert also drew the attention of the tech community, including technology evangelist Robert Scoble, who watched and tweeted about the concert to his 196,000 Twitter followers, spiking site traffic.

"We are watching a music star being born," said Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Howie Lindeman. "Daria's career is evolving as fast as Google's technology itself. And just as YouTube made Justin Bieber famous, Google+ can rightly take credit for making Daria Musk a globally recognized artist. Daria is a great young musician who's connecting with people in a powerful way through her extraordinary talent and personality. Daria Musk is one to watch."

The concert included the technical support of Google's Director of Engineering, Chee Chew, who joined the "Hangout" itself for Daria's final song of the night. Daria and producer/bass player RAM debuted for Chew (and thousands of viewers) a song written just hours before about Google+ called "+1 Me," weaving in stories of the past week and Google social network terms such as "circles" and "streams." A fan-captured YouTube video of the song has gone viral and Daria plans to release as a free gift to her fans the studio recording of the song, which should be ready in the next few days. Plans for the third Hangout concert are in progress.

"I'd always dreamed of being a global artist, but I never dreamed it could happen overnight," said Musk about the worldwide response to her performances. "I feel so connected to this community of fans I call 'G+niuses' who watched from all over the world. I'm excited and ready for what's next."
