Each year, the two organizations join forces to celebrate Rabies Awareness Week to increase attention to the deadly disease, which is caused by a virus that attacks the nervous system. Throughout the week, VVMA and VDH will promote guidelines to prevent families and pets from being exposed to rabies, offer educational opportunities to learn more about the deadly disease and encourage veterinarians to communicate the dangers of rabies with patients and others in the veterinary medicine community.
