Research at the University of Bonn by Professor Ralf Pude confirms Paulownia wood combined with Miscanthus can be used for construction applications, documented in Federal Research Report BBSR 36/2024. CO2 sequestration rates of 33 to 60 tonnes per hectare per year have been confirmed by peer-reviewed research (Ferrara et al., 2024, Frontiers in Environmental Science). This is 8 to 13 times higher than European standard forests.
VERDANTIS structures returns across five revenue streams including timber harvest, intercropping, carbon credits, honey production, and EU subsidies generating net returns of EUR 5,000 to 24,900 per hectare per year (Popa et al., 2024, Sustainability). On a 1,000-hectare project with EUR 12 million investment, projected return reaches 3.2x MOIC with IRR of 12 to 15 percent while distributing EUR 54 million in community income to local farmers over 15 years.
All VERDANTIS plantations use exclusively sterile hybrid varieties with zero percent germination rate. The hybrids are winter-hardy to minus 25 degrees Celsius and carry no invasion risk.
