  • Jefferson City, MO (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2011 - Value Energy Solutions, one of the largest lighting installation and lighting retrofit companies in the nation, recently was awarded an energy efficient lighting retrofit project for the Missouri Department of Transportation. MoDOT is responsible for providing Missouri with safe and modern roadways, bridges and transportation. In addition to maintaining the seventh largest state highway system in the country, MoDot is actively promoting safety, conservation, recycling and other community programs. It made sense for them to look for ways to lower energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

    MoDOT contacted Luis Ortiz-Midwest Territory Manager for Value Energy Solutions, to learn more about energy conservation and reducing their facility energy costs. Luis and the Value Energy Solutions team reviewed the existing lighting systems and energy use across the entire portfolio of buildings. Value Energy Solutions recommended retrofitting and upgrading the existing lighting in six warehouse buildings to T5 fluorescent lighting. The existing warehouse lighting was energy inefficient T-12 lamps which will be replaced by one hundred and six T5 fluorescent high bay lamp fixtures. MoDOT should realize annual energy savings of between 40 and 50% with the new T5 lighting fixtures.

    Value Energy Solutions provides customers with customized energy efficient lighting solutions that take advantage of new fluorescent lighting technology.

    The new T5 High Bay fluorescent fixtures have many advantages over traditional metal halide lighting;

    • Energy Efficiency - Typical 54 watt T5 lamp produces 5000 lumens - 92.6 lumens per watt
    • Lower Lumen Depreciation - only 5-6% lumen output loss between the rated initial and maintained lumens. Metal Halide lumen loss is about 35%.
    • Higher Quality Lighting - T5 lamps have a color rendering Index of 85 while metal halide lamps have a CRI of 65-70.
    • Instant Startup and Restrike - T5 fluorescent lamps start and restrike instantly unlike HID sources which can take several minutes to restrike.
    Value Energy Solutions can offer their customers the right lighting solution at the lowest price point because they work with more than 250 lighting manufacturers. Each client receives personalized service and a customized lighting program not a "one size fits all approach".
