University of Mount Olive Launches Mobile Tour App to Showcase the School Virtually
The University of Mount Olive releases virtual tour apps for iPhone and Android devices using Bar-Z's innovative Tour Guide platform.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) January 20, 2014 - To give prospective students at the University of Mount Olive (formerly Mount Olive College) a virtual view of campus, the University has just launched a new tour app. The apps, which are available for download on iPhones and iPads as well as Android Smartphones and tablets, are designed to deliver a wealth of campus information to prospective students in a mobile format.
Many students, including international and out-of-state students, may not be able to visit campus, so the apps offer them a first-hand view including photos of the academic, residence, and athletic facilities, and information that showcases all the university has to offer. The school has recently undergone a name change so the apps will also be rebranded in the near future to accommodate the new name of the University of Mount Olive.
"The University of Mount Olive is excited to offer the new UMO Tour app to showcase our beautiful campus to prospective students. The interactive map, photos, and multimedia integration will give students visiting our campus a fun supplement to their on-campus tour, or as a virtual tour anyone can enjoy from anywhere!" said Jennifer R. Merritt, director of Marketing, University of Mount Olive.
The university partnered with Bar-Z to bring their apps to life. Bar-Z offers a mobile application platform that allows the university to easily manage and edit their own multimedia content, while Bar-Z handles all of the technical aspects of building and maintaining their apps.
"Bar-Z has been very helpful through the whole process - from start to finish. Though the task of developing the app seemed quite daunting at first, the team at Bar-Z was always there to answer questions and help us make sure we had the best app possible," continued Merritt.
Bar-Z has created apps for many universities including Purdue, Seton Hall, North Carolina State and Fresno State University. As prospective students use the app, the university is interested in collecting feedback to see how they may be able to make the app even better.
