  • Durham, NC (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2012 - The Outstanding Dean Award was presented to Larry Gianchetta, Ph.D. at the Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD on August 3, 2012. The award recognizes deans for their significant contribution in faculty support and/or financial support to helping achieve the goals and objectives of their University's Beta Alpha Psi chapter.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Gianchetta has served as dean of the University of Montana for the past 25 years.

Gianchetta provides financial support for members and faculty advisors of the school's Beta Alpha Psi chapter, Delta Kappa, to attend both their regional and national meeting, but before providing funds he requires them to submit a proposal with a budget stating expected expenses. Instead of simply providing funds, he uses this task as a learning opportunity for students.

His devotion to making sure students have a voice at the University is reflected through many of his actions. He includes Beta Alpha Psi representatives on his Dean's Student Advisory Council to get student feedback about the School of Business Administration and invites students to his house for a tailgate prep dinner to get to know them personally, away from an academic setting.

Gianchetta works tirelessly to support the School of Business Administration's Career Development Program, which is also integral to the development of Beta Alpha Psi members.

Students of the Delta Kappa chapter stated, "He has given his heart and soul into making sure students at The University of Montana are succeeding and making strides to become professionals of tomorrow."

"Larry Gianchetta exemplifies the type of support needed by deans at all schools. His commitment not only to his school, but to students is what really sets him apart. Beta Alpha Psi is honored to give him this award and looks forward to seeing the Delta Kappa chapter flourish because of his support," stated Mary P. Stone, president of Beta Alpha Psi.
The Outstanding Dean Award was created in 2011.
