  • Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) April 04, 2017 - New guest speakers were recently announced for the University of Houston Foresight graduate program's 7th Annual Spring Gathering, scheduled April 21-22, 2017 at the university, officials said. Attendance is limited to current students, alumni, and invited guests.

Dr. Andy Hines, Program Coordinator at the University of Houston's Graduate Program in Foresight, said, "The details are rolling in for the Spring 2017 Gathering. First, let's talk about the Saturday conference. I am very excited to announce Christian Crews & Laura Schlehuber of Kalypso Foresight are going to take us through their Systems Scenarios approach. I have wanted to see this for years….finally!" Interested parties can learn how to request an invitation on the foresight department's blog on houstonforesight.org.

"In the afternoon, we have a session with Dave Bengston of the US Forest Service, whom we have been working with for the last year on horizon scanning and scenarios." Dr. Hines added, "He's going to lead us through an exercise using Joel Barker's Implications Wheel - very cool if you haven't played with that, and very cool if you have!"

The rest of the Saturday session will be a series of shorter pieces featuring futures work on tools, methods, projects from students, alumni, and faculty. All speakers will present essential material and concepts that can be put into practice by UH Foresight graduate students and futurists.

The foresight department also will announce more important news and key upcoming events for 2017 and beyond during the gathering.
