  • (1888PressRelease) July 19, 2013 - The UKHCA is the professional association for more than 2,000 domiciliary care providers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As a member-led association, it aims to champion high quality care provision to enable people to remain at home and fully integrated within their own local community.

It represents 33% of independent and voluntary sector providers in the UK, and estimates that its member organisations employ over 119,000 home-care workers. Wayne's appointment comes at a time of significant change in Wales, amid social care reform and on-going controversy surrounding how council care is commissioned.

Talking of his appointment, Wayne said: "I am honored to represent the many dedicated care providers here in Wales on the UKHCA Board. The UKHCA is uniquely positioned to champion the issues we all want to address, especially the challenge of delivering continuous quality improvements in care services, despite the current economic climate.

"There are some major issues we must address, not only in Wales but across the UK, and I am looking forward to playing a part in helping to champion real change in our sector for the benefit of our members and those they employ." Mike Padgham, chair of the UKHCA, said: "We are delighted to welcome Wayne Rees to the Board. With significant social care reforms under way in Wales, Wayne's experience and commitment to the cause of home-care providers will be invaluable."
