  • (1888PressRelease) January 14, 2013 - The shortlist of nominations for the 2013 Arab Health Innovation & Achievement Awards has been announced with more than 40 healthcare facilities from the United Arab Emirates in the running for the top spot in this year's awards. With hospitals such as Tawam Hospital, Ambulatory Healthcare Services (SEHA) and Dubai Diabetes Centre making it to the final shortlist, the 2013 Arab Health Awards is set to be a good year for the UAE healthcare industry.

Top performers from eight categories rewarding outstanding institutions and individual achievements that have contributed to the growth and development of the Middle East healthcare industry will be announced on 29th January 2013, during the Arab Health Exhibition & Congress which is organised by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions and will take place at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

"The quality of the submissions received in the various award categories has again been most impressive and in several categories it would have been easy to select multiple winners," says Brian Johnston, Chief Executive, The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, and member of the Arab Health Awards judging panel. "What has impressed me in particular has been the range of issues covered in the submissions reflecting the breadth of innovation and continuing commitment to the provision of high quality health services taking place across the region."

The panel examined more than 120 nominations submitted by healthcare facilities and professionals from around the Middle East region to build the shortlist for eight award categories.

Commenting on being shortlisted for the Excellence in Imaging and Diagnostic Award for 2013, Dr. Ghuwaya Al Neyadi, Manager, Ruwais Hospital Division, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) said: "We would like to extend our gratitude and warm thanks for the effort in organising the 2013 Arab Health Achievement and Innovation Awards. We are very proud to be selected as a shortlisted nominee and we would like to thank all those who contributed in this achievement."

This year, Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions has introduced a new category to the Arab Health Awards; The Sustainable Hospital Award.

"I believed that the newly introduced award category for sustainable hospitals by the Arab Health team this year is an excellent initiative," says Dr. Mazen Fakeeh, president, Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital, who are headline sponsors of the 2013 Arab health Awards. "I expect this initiative to help foster the culture of sustainability in the healthcare sector and will help hospitals improve their environmental and social performances on a competitive basis."
