U.S. educational fair holds In Lagos

  • (1888PressRelease) October 18, 2012 - Eighteen American universities, including Pennsylvania State University, Iowa State University, University of Kentucky, were all represented and ready to provide answers on admissions, scholarships, among others, at the fair.

    The fair, which is organised by Education USA office, located at 2, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos, featured speeches on obtaining a passport, applying for student visas, admission processes, U.S. higher education in general, among others.

    According to Mrs. Ifeanyi Olagbajo, Educational Adviser, U.S. Consulate, “Nigeria is leading sub-Saharan Africa in student population in the U.S. Currently, there are a little above 7,100 Nigerian students in U.S. universities.”

    Expressing delight at the fact that a good number of the students return after their studies, she disclosed that there are various scholarship opportunities for brilliant but indigent students, Masters and PhD students among others offered by the various schools.

    The fair, which was organised with the support of GTBank and MTN Nigeria, will also take place in Abuja today and tomorrow.
