U.S. Department of Homeland Security discuss biometric technology at Border Security 2017

    With biometric technology becoming a tool used widely across the globe in order to enhance border security, this will be one of the key topics that will be under the spotlight in the 2017 agenda. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be providing two presentations that will explore the implementation of Biometrics in great detail.

    Paul Hunter, Chief Biometrics Strategy/Biometrics Division, DHS/USCIS/Immigration Records and Identity Services (IRS) Directorate USCIS, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will speak on "Homeland Security: how the future of biometric technology will improve facilitation, security and the customer experience". His presentation will focus on:
    • The current and future use of biometric technology at US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
    • How biometrics are collected and used
    • A strategic look into the future of biometrics at USCIS and DHS

    William Phillips, Director of Identity Capabilities Management Division (ICMD), Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM), U.S. Department of Homeland Security will provide a presentation on "The Future of DHS Biometric Identity Services - Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) Way Ahead". This session will provide delegates with:
    • A short overview of OBIM's mission and current IDENT capabilities
    • Status update on the HART procurement
    • Explanation of the scope and capabilities of the new HART system
    • In-depth discussion about HART's development by increment

    With recent discussions regarding further enhancement of biometric information at US borders; these not to be missed presentations will be extremely insightful as they provide the latest updates and future plans of biometrics for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
