Two Awards At Hace For Radisson Blu Hotel, Cairo Heliopolis

  • (1888PressRelease) October 23, 2012 - Chef Alaa was victorious in the Makro Black Box competition for the second year running and also won the Al Wataniya Chicken Dish competition with his special interpretations of recipes that impressed the judges when it was time to hand out the awards.

    The 26 year-old Alaa joined Radisson Blu Heliopolis, Cairo two years ago as a Demi Chef and was later promoted to Chef De Partie at the esteemed Filini Restaurant. Chef Alaa said: "I am very happy to have won the awards; it is not just an honor for me but also for the hotel and all of the restaurant team."

    Radisson Blu Hotel, Cairo Heliopolis General Manager Ashraf Naguib said: "We are all very proud of Alaa's success and the fantastic skills and efforts of all the chefs and kitchen staff at the hotel. Filini in particular has a wonderful reputation throughout Cairo and these awards add to that acclaim."

    In the Makro competition Chef Alaa's delicious creation featured salmon tartar, pan-fried escalope and anchovy with mango salad and a butter sauce. The main dish was a gorgeous feast of chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese, plus sweet potatoes, sautéed vegetables and shiitake mushroom sauce. The judges awarded Chef Alaa a commemorative shield and certificate from Makro.

    In the Al Wataniya Chicken Dish competition, Chef Alaa took inspiration on more of the delectable treats from the Filini menu to create 'Trio Chicken'. This features three different presentations of chicken, served with three flavours of risotto, sautéed vegetables and shiitake mushroom sauce.

    Here his prize was a bronze medal and certificate.

    The prestigious HACE - Hotel Expo 2012 is one of the largest exhibitions in Egypt and the most prestigious forum for hotel supplies and catering equipment including bakery, pastry, ice cream, food and beverages and furnishings. The event is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and was attended by more than 250 Egyptian and international companies
