  • (1888PressRelease) February 25, 2011 - Westlake Village, CA - The Tushita Kadampa Buddhist Center (TKBC), home to a thriving Buddhist community, has outgrown the Thousand Oaks location it has occupied since 2008. The center has moved to 910 Hampshire Road in Westlake Village, a beautifully appointed and much larger space that can accommodate an expanded schedule of classes, workshops and retreats.

The center is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) and the International Kadampa Buddhist Union and was founded by the Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, a fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism.

Resident Teacher Rebecca Gauthier has been teaching for 18 years with a heartfelt, practical style, warmth and humor and is an inspiring example of Buddhism in practice. "It's wonderful to see such a strong interest in looking for happiness from a different source in the Conejo Valley."

"Our aim is to support both the local and worldwide community by offering teachings and advice on how to live a peaceful and meaningful life. Through meditation practice, individuals can cultivate inner peace relieve stress and tension both physically and mentally and develop a still, calm and peaceful mind. The feedback we get from our students is that the quality of their life improves because their state of mind improves"

"We invite the community to join us on Saturday, March 5th as we celebrate our new location with an all-day Open House. We will be serving refreshments, and there will be a free meditation workshop, arts and crafts for the kids and a vegetarian potluck in the evening after chanted prayers."

The open house is an opportunity to visit a Buddhist Center and see what it's all about. The senior teachers and students will be on hand and there will be guided tours that explain Buddhist symbolism, statues and other aspects of the shrine.

Gen Kelsang Jampa, an American Buddhist monk and the National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition will make a special visit to bless the center on it's official opening.
