  • San Antonio, TX (1888PressRelease) March 04, 2011 - Turner Construction Company, the nation's leading general builder, announces that Mike Kaiman was a recipient of the honored "20 Under 40" award by Engineering News-Record (ENR) Texas-Louisiana for 2011. As one of the construction industry's leading publications, the award recognizes outstanding individuals that demonstrate leadership in the construction, architecture and engineering industries throughout Texas and the Louisiana Gulf Coast.

Each year, industry peers nominate a group of candidates that are currently excelling in their careers to be evaluated by an independent panel of judges. The top 20 are evaluated on the success of their contributions to their industry professions and within the communities they live and serve.

The panel selects winners based on achievement or progress toward industry certifications, including professional licensure or LEED AP, community service, industry involvement and contribution to creating or building regional landmark projects.

"Mike Kaiman brings a unique blend of leadership, technical competence and motivation to his role with Turner. Not only is he a highly skilled manager, but he also makes serving his community a priority," said Matt Papenfus, senior vice president of Turner Construction. "The growth and success of Turner's Central Texas operations is a direct result of Mike's commitment, and we are pleased that his accomplishments have been recognized within the community and by his professional associates."

With 18 years of experience in the construction industry, Kaiman has risen rapidly within the Turner organization. Based in San Antonio, Mike Kaiman is currently vice president and general manager of Turner Construction's Central Texas operations. Following his successful leadership of Turner's Indiana operations, Kaiman was put in charge of growing Turner's Central Texas operations, where he has become a recognized business and community leader within two short years.

Under Mike Kaiman's direction, Turner has been active in ACE Mentoring, CANStruction, AGC and the Hispanic Contractors Association, and has also led significant projects with clients that include Bexar County, Caterpillar, Motorola, Federal Realty, Wells Fargo, Cullinan Development / Veterans Administration, Capital One Bank, Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research, Liberty Mutual and Austin Independent School District.

During his career, Kaiman has directed the Turner School of Construction Management, which helps mentor small and minority-owned business owners in the construction space. He has also been recognized in other publications and been a finalist in Indy's Best & Brightest competition, honoring young professionals in Central Indiana. Kaiman graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is ASHE certified and is a LEED AP.
