  • (1888PressRelease) May 19, 2011 - GRAND-AM favorite Owen Trinkler, with co-driver Sarah Cattaneo, returned to the Virginia International Raceway for the Bosch Engineering 200 as part of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series Season for RSR Motorsports this past weekend. Fans who have been following the team's strong progress were not disappointed as the team driving the #198 Cruise America/Thor Motorcoach/Flying J Mini Cooper S finished in seventh place.

"The team and Sarah did a great job this weekend," said Owen Trinkler. "We didn't have a whole lot to work with between all the rain and yellow flags, but in the end we were able to finish ahead of the teams that were ahead of us in the standings coming into this weekend, so in all that's step closer to the championship. We all know on this team what our goals are and having consistent strong results is what will get us there."

Coming into the Bosch Engineering 200 with high hopes and a lot of momentum after a strong start to the season, the RSR team was poised for a strong weekend. Consistent rain on the weekend eliminated much of the opportunity to dial in the car. Cattaneo would qualify in 18th position, and would run strong during the race to turn the car over to Trinkler to make a push to the front. Trinkler would do what he could between the slew of yellow flags to make up spots on the competition, but in the end there just wasn't enough green flag racing to make up the amount the team needed for a podium finish. With their seventh position finish, the driving pair moved up to 3rd in Street Tuner class of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series Driver Points, and 2nd in the Team Points standings.

This season RSR Motorsport is supported by Pilot, Flying J, Cruise America, Thor Motorcoach, and Mini USA as they campaign their fleet of Mini Cooper S race cars out of their Orlando, Florida race shop to take on a very strong challenge in the Street Tuner Class of the Continental Tire Challenge in 2011. The team and sponsors are looking forward to a strong 2011 racing season.
