  • (1888PressRelease) May 02, 2012 - One of Trifecta Construction Solutions' projects has been awarded Project of the Year 2012 by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The award was given to Progresso Point, a 76-unit multi-family construction project located in Ft. Lauderdale. The project showcases how affordable housing can incorporate green building practices and environmental efficiency. Progresso Point is the first affordable high-rise to be certified by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) in the state of Florida.

A collaborative project completed by co-developers Reliance Housing Foundation and the Broward County Housing Authority, contractor Facchina Construction and sustainability expert Trifecta Construction Solutions, Progresso Point was constructed to achieve an overall efficiency that is 40 percent better than Florida energy code. The multi-family project is also designed with tankless water heaters, water saving faucets, showerheads, dual flush toilets, SEER 15 and 16 high efficiency air conditioning, Energy Star qualified lighting in every room, low VOC paint and Energy Star appliances.

Dr. Jennifer Languell, founder and president of Trifecta Construction Solutions, explains that winning the NAHB award will further green building projects in Florida and elsewhere.

"My hope is that the NAHB award draws national attention to the fact that building 'green' means healthy and efficient buildings - and it is achievable to all price points," said Languell. "Progresso Point demonstrates that we are able to produce housing that benefits the environment and local communities."
