Lawrence Perkins, who is a speaker and educator, has received rave reviews for this inspired, autobiographical story. The book tells his story growing up in Chicago's Robert Taylor Homes, one of the roughest housing projects in the nation. It tells a vivid story of self discovery as he overcame gang involvement, drugs and academic deficiencies through the help of inspired mentors.
