  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 10, 2010 - BROOKLYN, NY: If you're a member of a senior citizen center and can still cut a rug out on the dance floor, you're eligible to compete in the "The Dance Off," an annual event scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 (from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.) at the Fort Greene Albany Health and Street Fair, 196 Albany Ave. in Brooklyn, NY.

The event is sponsored by Touchstone Health, the Medicare Advantage company. In addition, Touchstone Health will set up exhibits on various health and wellness topics at the event. A doctor in Touchstone Health's network will conduct blood pressure screenings as well. Admission to the Fort Greene Albany Health and Street Fair is free to the general public, but the dance competition portion is limited to participating senior center members and their families.

Participants can perform any kind of dance they choose - from samba to salsa, ballroom dancing to break dancing, with a panel of judges to select the winners. Trophies will be presented by Touchstone Health to the dancers with the most votes.

"Seniors and dancing do mix; it's a great physical activity for keeping people looking and feeling young," said Franchesca Feliciano, a community representative for Touchstone Health. "We encourage all seniors who love to dance and remain young at heart to participate in this fun event."

Seniors can compete by having their senior center call the Fort Greene Albany Senior Center at 718.773.2600.
