  • (1888PressRelease) February 11, 2016 - Auto Expo is one of the hottest show in the car industry every year that all car crazy fans look forward seeing their favourite cars. All manufacturers showcase their upcoming models at the show.

    The 13th edition of Auto Expo 2016 this year was no exception as around 58 auto manufacturers were in attendance, including Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, Jaguar, etc. The Auto Expo was held at the India Exposition Mart Ltd (IEML) in Greater Noida from February 5 - 9.

    Almost 80 new models were launched, including 20 global unveilings and it was really tough to pick the top 10, but we have done our best to bring out this list of the top 10 cars to watch out for this year from the auto expo.

    1. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
    With the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki has marked its entry into the highly competitive sub-4 metre compact SUV segment. It is also Maruti Suzuki's first ever product to be designed and developed entirely in India. Upon launch, the all-new Vitara Brezza will be available only in a diesel version with a 1.3-litre DDiS engine which delivers a reasonable 90PS of power and the petrol version will be launched later. It is expected to give a tough fight for the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.

    2. Ford Mustang
    The much-awaited car of many car enthusiasts who are craving to drive a real American muscle car will come true with the Ford Mustang. Even though it is sold under 3-4 engine variants in other countries, in India it is to be launched as a single variant only. It will be powered by a 435bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine with 524Nm of peak torque.

    3. Hyundai Tucson
    Hyundai, the Korean automobile maker, to launch the new 3rd generation Tucson premium compact SUV which bridges the gap between Hyundai's Santa Fe and the Creta. It is expected to be launched with CKD kits and will be locally assembled at the company's plant in Chennai. Being launched this year, it will compete with the likes of Honda CR-V and the Nissan X-Trail, other popular cars in this segment.

    4. BMW X1
    The next generation BMW X1 SUV is launched taller and wider than the previous models and hence provides much better cabin space. The BMW X1 has undergone a lot of changes internally and externally and looks stunning by shedding 135 kgs. The X1 will be offered with BMW's 189bhp, 2.0-litre diesel motor, eight-speed automatic gearbox and features an xDrive AWD system in the top-end models.

    5. Toyota Innova Crysta
    Likely to be available by the end of this year, the all new Toyota Innova Crysta is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. With a lot of changes in the exterior as well as interior, Toyota Innova Crysta Premium SUV is more sophisticated than ever. The Crysta comes with a lot of features like the touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, power windows and more, mostly available in the top end variants. The Toyota Innova Crysta is available in both petrol and diesel versions. The former with 139 PS 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 183Nm of torque and the latter with 149 PS 2.4-litre diesel engine with 342 Nm of torque.

    6. Honda BR-V
    Honda has marked its entry into the compact SUV segment with the launch of the Honda BR-V. Based on the Brio platform, you can see some design features from the Mobilio MPV as well. It boasts of features such as improved ground clearance, projector head lamps, round fog lamps and a black plastic cladding adding a sporty look. It will be available with 2 engine options, 1.5 litres i-Vtec Petrol and a 1.5 litre i-Dec Diesel engine.

    7. Audi R8 V10
    The new Audi R8 is a real stunner with curved contours on the side with a noticeable shoulder line along with a single frame grille adorned beautifully with a honey comb design. Custom flat LED lights are placed above air inlets, which makes the R8 looks muscular. The Audi R8 also look longer than before with the side contour. It is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine with two states of tune - 540bhp and 610bhp. It can reach a speed of 0-100 Km/h in just 3.2 seconds and its top speed would be 330 Km/h.

    8. Volkswagen Ameo
    The Auto Expo 2016 also witnessed Volkswagen enter into the highly competitive and already crowded sub-4 metre sedan segment. One important aspect of Ameo is that German carmaker has designed the car for the Indian road condition and will be available in 2 engine variants which are 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine and a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine.

    9. Jaguar XE
    British car maker Jaguar known for making some of the finest luxury cars has released their smallest sports sedan at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. The Jaguar XE will fight against rivals like the BMW 3, Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars in this segment. Only the petrol variants available for the XE which comes in two different outputs. The standard and the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol versions, the former comes with 200 PS of power and 320 Nm of peak torque, while the latter delivers 240 PS of power output and 340 Nm of peak torque.

    10. Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee
    Jeep has finally arrived onto the Indian shores after a long time. Initially, the company is planning to use the Fiat's network but has plans to open its own dealerships across major cities in the country. Both the Limited and Summit versions of the Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and will rival with BMW X3, the new Land Rover Discovery Sport, Audi Q5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE. The Wrangler hosts a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel mill and it comes with 17-inch alloys and removable tops and doors.
