TMS Launches 2010 Travel & Hospitality Industry Salary Survey

  • (1888PressRelease) December 30, 2010 - TMS CEO Andrew Chan said the launch of the 2010 survey in a period of increased business confidence was timely given that 12 months ago many companies were focusing on retrenchment rather than recruiting.

"One of the key advantages the TMS model has over other employment surveys is the fact that now after five years we are now in a strong position to report Australian industry trends on a year on year basis," he said.

"This is particularly relevant at this moment given we have experienced a period when Australia's job environment roller-coasted, changing dramatically, then changing again over an 18-month period."

The executive search specialist is this year inviting input from more than 10,000 industry staffers, 20 per cent more than in 2009, with respondents again ranging from company CEOs, managing directors and general managers through to middle management and front line consultants.

"This survey as in previous years is intended to provide an unique statistical view of the sector's labour market," Mr Chan said.

"But it also offers an invaluable insight into the mindset of industry personnel. "On the surface it would seem logical that a more buoyant industry would provide greater opportunities, not only for new jobseekers but also for existing employee at both shop floor and management level.

"But is this the new reality? Do travel and tourism employees and employers believe they better off now than they were 12 months ago?

"This is what we are hoping to determine with the 2010 report."

The survey, which takes about five minutes to complete, is readily available on the TMS website located at www.tmsap.com but must be completed by 10 December 2010.

TMS is again offering respondents the opportunity to win a $250 shopping voucher simply by participating in the 2010 survey.

The voucher winner will be announced on 13 December 2010 - just in time for Christmas.
