  • (1888PressRelease) September 22, 2020 - Event Synopsis:
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which took effect on January 1, 2020, is the newest statute intended to improve the data use transparency and privacy rights within the state. One of its significant prohibitions is the selling and disclosure of California residents’ personal information, particularly of children under 16 years old. Businesses and individuals who fail to comply with and violate these prohibitions are further confronted with increased liability under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), a federal law that restricts the collection and use of personal information of children under the age of 13.

With the changing regulatory landscape and more stringent privacy regulations, the future of the CCPA and COPPA is still uncertain. Thus, businesses must keep themselves updated with emerging developments and critical issues. They must also proactively revisit their practices to avoid non-compliance and legal liabilities.

In a LIVE Webcast, Allen Matkins data privacy attorneys, Kathryn Garcin and Max Brunner, will present an in-depth discussion of emerging trends and developments in the CCPA and COPPA. Speakers will also discuss key issues and challenges and offer practical tips and strategies to help practitioners comply in this evolving regulatory climate.
